Opis

ELAPHE propulsion technologies ltd., a spin-off of the Jožef Stefan Institute, develops electromotors for the direct electrical drive of eclectic and hybrid vehicles. Ecological problems require, new technologies allow, and political and economic factors encourage us to develop, manufacture and use more environmentally friendly and efficient means of transportation. The most realistic solutions are electric cars, which are not yet technically perfected as they do not yet allow sufficient range or autonomy. The biggest obstacle is the storage of sufficient amounts of electricity; a solution is offered by using the technologies of hydrogen and fuel cells, modern batteries, capacitors, hybrid energy sources and efficient electromechanical converters. The Elaphe company is attempting to realise all of the advantages of the transition to electric drive through fresh ideas, since excessive preoccupation with already established ideas blocks creativity. By using a holistic approach which takes into account technical, economic and social factors, they are searching for the optimal implementation of revolutionary innovations. Elaphe together with its partners (Jožef Stefan Institute, Iskra Avtoelektrika, etc.) aims to complete the development of state-of-the-art brushless electromotors and to introduce the concept of direct drive into the car industry, where the wheels are the only moving part of the drivetrain. The essence of direct drive is electromotors mounted directly on the wheels, which must conform to very strict technical requirements. Using an innovative approach they have satisfied difficult-to-combine requirements for low weight and volume, and high torque, power and output. Vehicles with direct drive will feature low fuel consumption, excellent driving qualities, modern design and low overall driving costs. The final goal is cars, while before that they expect to develop electric two-wheeled and other vehicles.
